Don’t Forget Iran’s Forgotten Political Prisoners
Following the 12-day war in June, repression inside Iran has intensified dramatically, with clear signs that the clerical dictatorship seeks to send a brutal warning to its own population. According to the head of Iran’s judiciary, thousands have been arrested, and at least 15 individuals linked to the country’s democratic opposition movement, the NCRI, have already been sentenced to death, with more verdicts expected soon.
The regime-controlled Fars News Agency — run by the Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) — has explicitly called for a new wave of executions, reminiscent of the 1988 massacre, when an estimated 30,000 political prisoners were executed within just three months.
International observers are also sounding the alarm over the rapidly deteriorating human rights situation in Iran. Even before the recent conflict, the country was responsible for 64% of all recorded executions worldwide in 2024 — roughly 1,000 executions, according to Amnesty International’s annual report. In May 2025 alone, 176 people were executed — averaging nearly six per day.

Venezuela Prepares for Potential U.S. Attack with Armed Drones Designed by Iran
When Venezuelan leader Hugo Chávez appeared on a nationwide TV broadcast in June 2012, proudly announcing that his country was now manufacturing “unmanned aircraft,” the news took both supporters and critics by surprise. In a defiant tone, the president showcased three prototypes, saying the country had the right to build them while claiming that they were not armed.
Today, as the Caracas regime declares it will deploy drones to defend itself amid growing tensions triggered by the dispatch of more than half a dozen powerful U.S. warships to the waters off its Caribbean coast, few people know the details of how Venezuela developed one of Latin America’s most advanced unmanned aircraft programs. Fewer still know an element associated with the program that has sparked interest — and alarm — from some officials in Washington: The drones, though built on Venezuelan soil, are controlled to some extent by Iran.
Iran Is Poking the Bear Again
Iran keeps behaving like an outlaw regime. Australia expelled Tehran’s ambassador last week based on intelligence that its government masterminded an attack on a synagogue in Melbourne and a kosher food company in Sydney. The head of the United Nations nuclear watchdog is receiving enhanced security because of what he calls a threat “from the direction” of Iran. On Sunday, the Iran-backed Houthis raided the offices of the World Food Program, World Health Organization and UNICEF in Yemen’s capital.
U.S. Senator Praises European “Snapback” Sanctions on Iran, Urges Strict Enforcement
Speaking on the Senate floor on September 3, 2025, U.S. Senator John Kennedy warned that the Iranian regime remains a growing threat, citing its support for terrorism, ongoing nuclear escalation, and refusal to return to negotiations. The Senator highlighted recent developments, including Australia’s decision to expel the regime’s ambassador and designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization after Iran-linked operatives firebombed a Melbourne synagogue and later attacked a kosher deli in Sydney.
“Iran’s still there, and it’s still spreading terrorism,” he said. Turning to the nuclear issue, Senator Kennedy praised the United Kingdom, Germany, and France for triggering “snapback” sanctions under UN Security Council Resolution 2231, after Tehran violated the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
“Iran said, ‘Pinky promise, we’ll stop building a nuclear weapon.’ President Obama agreed. He was naive,” the Senator said, accusing Tehran of continuing to develop nuclear capabilities despite the deal.
The sanctions, set to be reinstated by the end of the month, will target Iran’s banking, shipping, oil, arms, missile, and drone programs. But Senator Kennedy warned that reimposing sanctions is not enough without strict enforcement: “Just because Europe and the United States have agreed to reimpose these sanctions, we’ve still got to enforce them. The United States needs to take the lead on doing that.”
He cautioned that Russia and China might block UN enforcement mechanisms, making Western coordination essential. Expressing sympathy for the Iranian people but none for the ruling establishment, the Senator concluded: “I don’t feel any sympathy for the Ayatollah. We’re just going to have to choke him to death — economically.”

Sen. Tom Cotton Warns Biden-Era Pentagon Official Accused of Spying for Iran Still Has Access to US Intelligence, Demands FBI, Pentagon Intervene
Sen. Tom Cotton has sent a dire letter to FBI Director Kash Patel and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, urging an investigation into alleged Iranian spies that could be operating within the US intelligence community, The Post has exclusively learned.
The letter, sent Wednesday, pressed the FBI and Department of Defense to review the matter “thoroughly for counterintelligence concerns and potential criminality” — sounding the alarm that “national security information” may have been provided to a “hostile foreign power” or that American citizens acting on behalf of an enemy government may have worked to influence US policy.
The letter specifically singled out Ariane Tabatabai, a founding member of the Iranian Experts Initiatives (IEI) who served a senior role in the State Department under President Biden, and who still works in the Pentagon as a senior policy advisor.

Ghezel Hesar Prison Faces Humanitarian Crisis as Water Supply Cut Off
According to informed sources, the water supply to Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj, particularly in Unit 2, has been completely cut off since Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 3 PM. This drastic measure, which prisoners are describing as “silent torture,” has created severely critical and inhumane conditions for hundreds of inmates, placing their health in grave jeopardy.
Ghezel Hesar, often referred to as a “death factory” or a “city with 17,000 residents in chains,” is already notorious for its dire conditions. The sudden and complete cessation of water has now escalated into a full-blown humanitarian crisis.
Iran’s Use of Toxic Mazut Fuel Sparks Alarming Rise in Air Pollution Deaths
Amid worsening air pollution, the Iranian regime’s reliance on burning mazut fuel in power plants has created a public health and environmental disaster, endangering millions of citizens. Instead of addressing the crisis, regime officials continue to remain silent, deny responsibility, or obscure key statistics.
Mazut, a low-quality heavy fuel oil with sulfur content of 3.5 percent—seven times higher than the global standard—has been increasingly consumed in Iranian power plants. Experts warn that this toxic practice is accelerating health crises, damaging equipment, and intensifying the strain on the country’s already failing electricity grid.
