In a powerful act of defiance against Iran’s execution machinery, political prisoners across 38 prisons launched a coordinated hunger strike on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, marking the 61st week of the “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign.

The movement, which began as a grassroots response to the regime’s escalating use of capital punishment, has released alarming figures showing that over 1,150 prisoners—including 38 women, 135 Baluch, 104 Kurds, and five political prisoners—were executed in the Iranian year 1403 (March 2024–March 2025).

Activists condemned the continued wave of executions under the regime’s president Masoud Pezeshkian, calling for united and effective action to end what they describe as the regime’s systematic use of executions as a tool of repression.

“No to Executions Tuesdays”: The 61st Week of the “No to Executions Tuesdays” Campaign Across 38 Prisons

More Than 1,150 Death Row Prisoners Executed in the Year 1403 (March 2024 – March 2025)

As the “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign enters the first week of the Iranian year 1404, it announces the shocking figures of state-sanctioned executions in 1403: Over 1,150 death row prisoners were hanged during this period, including 38 women. Among the executed were 135 Baluch and 104 Kurdish compatriots. Additionally, five political and ideological prisoners were executed, and eight individuals were publicly hanged in a medieval-style spectacle.

It is important to note that approximately 85% of these executions took place during the presidency of Masoud Pezeshkian. This fact alone underscores the reality that all factions within this regime are equally complicit in the killing and execution of the Iranian people.

We, the members of the “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign, stand united and resolute against the inhumane practice of capital punishment. We call on all political parties, organizations, unions, human rights and civil activists, justice seekers, and all who are concerned with the right to life and human dignity to take more practical and effective action in the new year to confront executions. Let 1404 be the year that marks the end of repression and executions—and the beginning of freedom for Iran.
