On Monday, November 25, 2024, protests erupted across Iran as retirees, healthcare workers, and other citizens rallied against poor living conditions, low wages, and the regime’s neglect of basic economic demands.
In Tehran (Tehran Province, Central Iran), Zanjan (Zanjan Province, Northwest Iran), Rasht (Gilan Province, North Iran), Bijar (Kurdistan Province, West Iran), and Sanandaj (Kurdistan Province, West Iran), retirees and pensioners of the Telecommunications Company of Iran (TCI) protested over low pensions and the regime’s failure to address their grievances. Protesters called for fair adjustments to their pensions and basic services to counter skyrocketing inflation. In Kermanshah (Kermanshah Province, West Iran), similar rallies were held, with protesters chanting, “No nation has seen such injustice.”
In Ahvaz (Khuzestan Province, Southwest Iran), nearly 400 nurses and staff from Khomeini Hospital staged protests against low pay, poor working conditions, and the regime’s mismanagement of healthcare resources. Protesters chanted, “We get paid in rials, our expenses are in dollars,” highlighting the disparity between their income and the rising cost of living.

Meanwhile, in Abadan (Khuzestan Province, Southwest Iran), staff from the Khorramshahr Medical Center gathered in front of the Medical Sciences University of Abadan to demand unpaid wages and better working conditions, emphasizing the worsening crisis in the healthcare sector.
The protests reflect a growing wave of discontent as workers from various sectors, including healthcare and telecommunications, voice their frustrations over economic mismanagement and deteriorating living standards. The simultaneous rallies and strikes across multiple cities mark a significant escalation in the public’s demands for accountability and reform.
Despite the regime’s efforts to suppress dissent, these protests highlight the increasing resilience and unity of Iranians confronting systemic injustice and economic hardship.
