Mahmood Saree Qalam – a political aide to Rouhani – told state-run television that taxi drivers who worked from 5am to midnight to make money for their families did not have a high enough level of education to be asked their views on the Geneva nuclear negotiations.
The group of 30 drivers demanded Qalam’s resignation and also complained that Rouhani’s new administration had done nothing to improve their livelihoods. One taxi driver said: “Not only have none of our problems been alleviated but we have been insulted by this administration as well.”
