MEPs ‘indignant’ at Iran regime’s ‘destructive role in the region’

NCRI – Bulgarian Member of the European Parliament, Svetoslav Malinov, said that he and his colleagues were ‘indignant’ at the Iranian regime’s support for ‘the dictator, Assad’. Iran’s regime, he said, ‘played a very destructive role in the region.’

Mr Malinov said that his peers in the European Parliament were ‘under no illusions’ that there had been any positive changes in the nature of the Iranian regime.

MEPs were so concerned about the ‘dire’ lack of freedom in Iran, that 270 of them had signed a declaration to say that improvements in human rights must be the foundation of the EU’s relationship with the regime, Mr Malinov said.

Support for the Iranian opposition remained steadfast in the European Parliament, Mr Malinov declared, and opposition leader Mrs Maryam Rajavi was a frequent visitor upon whom many MEPs relied for information about Iran, he said.

Mr Malinov was looking forward to the ‘huge’ rally planned in Paris. The Free Iran gathering will be held on July 9. The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) will be joined in Paris by leaders from across the globe as well as by tens of thousands of its supporters.
