On September 6, 2025, former European Parliament Vice President Dr. Alejo Vidal-Quadras addressed tens of thousands at the Free Iran rally in Brussels, casting the assembled Iranians as the present reality of Iran’s democratic future. He told supporters they are “the living embodiment of the Iranian people’s will for change,” rejecting portrayals of the movement as a marginal faction and calling it “the voice of millions of Iranians—the heartbeat of a nation.”
Dr. Vidal-Quadras denounced proposals to restore monarchy, insisting that a “vast majority of Iranians reject replacing a criminal, corrupt, terrorist regime with a crown dictatorship.” He praised the movement’s activists inside Iran, saying he had seen Resistance Units “fearless, challenging, marking the PMOI’s 60th anniversary with fire, determination, and faith,” and dismissed critics who claim the movement lacks support.
Addressing his own survival of a past attack, Vidal-Quadras pledged continued commitment: “I will stay as a proud soldier in your ranks… all the way to a free Iran.” He framed the rally as both a referendum on tyranny and a renewal of resolve, warning Tehran that repression cannot extinguish resistance: “They can kill us, torture us, imprison us—but we will never, never, ever give up.” He closed by urging sustained pressure and solidarity until democratic change is achieved.
The full text of Prof. Alejo Vidal Quadras’ speech follows:
Good afternoon to you all. My warm greetings to the heroes of freedom in Ashraf 3 and to the tens of thousands of courageous Iranians gathered here today. Madam President, distinguished friends, you have spoken today once again with power and clarity.
I will add just one truth, but it is a truth that echoes across the world and across history. The future of Iran is not a dream. It is standing before us right now. You, you, the brave, the committed, are the living embodiment of the Iranian people’s will for change. You are not a fringe, you are not a faction, you are not a grouplet. You are the voice of millions of Iranians. You are the heartbeat of a nation.
Dear Madam President, dear Maryam Rajavi, the NCRI and the PMOI are not alone. You represent the reality of today’s Iran. Your families, your neighbors, your fellow citizens, they yearn for the same future you are building with your sacrifice. Iran is a land suffocated by tyranny and your presence here is a living referendum. A thunderous voice for your democratic vision expressed in your Ten-Point Plan.
And how pitiful are those who dream of dragging Iran back to a failed past. A vast majority of Iranians do not want to replace a criminal, corrupt, and terrorist regime by a crown dictatorship that has nothing to offer to the Iranian society but its selfish ambition.

I have seen the Resistance Units inside Iran. Fearless, challenging, marking the PMOI’s 60th anniversary with fire, determination, and faith. Tell me, is there any other movement with such courage burning in its core? To those who say you lack support, we reply that their only wish is to see the mullahs’ rule for another 50 years. This would be a disgrace we will not allow to happen.
Dear friends, after this inspiring event, we will continue our struggle to accomplish our mission with renewed resolve and hope. And let me tell you that if I survived the mullahs’ cowardly and vicious attack, it was to stand with you with more enthusiasm and dedication than ever. Yes.
Yes, my friends, I pledge to you that I will stay as a proud soldier in your ranks, under your banner led by our President, Maryam Rajavi, all the way to a free Iran. And let me finish with a message for this bunch of criminals that oppress the Iranian people—to the mullahs. They must know that they can kill us, torture us, imprison us, but they must also know that we will never, never, ever give up.
Thank you very much.
