NUMBER OF VICTIMS (AS OF MAY 24, 2020, 6:00 PM CEST):

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) announced this afternoon, May 24, 2020, that Coronavirus has taken the lives of more than 44,000 in 320 cities across Iran.
The death toll in various provinces include:7100 in Tehran, 3435 in Qom, 3325 in Khuzestan, 1556 in East Azerbaijan, 1385 in Sistan and Baluchistan, 1330 in Lorestan, 512 in North Khorasan, and 510 in Zanjan. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

He also claimed that in at least 10 provinces, the situation is back to normal and the government has been able to contain the deadly virus.

Rouhani made the comments against the backdrop of the continued spread of COVID-19, which has so far claimed more than 43,800 lives.

Protesters shot, injured and arrested

On Saturday morning, the people and youth of Ahvaz in Khuzestan Province closed the Ahvaz-Mahshahr highway to protest the lack of drinking water. State Security Force (SSF) in riot gear and firing tear gas attacked the protesters, trying to disperse them. Met with the protesters’ defiance, the SSF opened fire, injuring several including a boy and arrested several protesters.

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK) announced this afternoon, Saturday, May 23, 2020, the Coronavirus death toll in 320 cities across Iran had exceeded 43,800. The number of victims in Khuzestan is 3,270, Khorasan Razavi is at least 3,085, Lorestan 1,315, Fars 1,050, Kurdistan 826, Kerman 538, and Qazvin 505.

Recent remarks by former Majlis member Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh have triggered a new wave of infighting among Iranian officials, which further highlights the disarray plaguing the senior ranks of the Iranian regime.

Most notable among the reactions to Falahatpisheh’s remarks, who acknowledged that the regime might have spent $20-30 billion on the war in Syria, was a piece written by Hossein Shariatmadari, the editor-in-chief of Keyhan daily, known for reflecting the views and opinions of regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei.

In remarks published by the state-run Etemad Online, Falahatpisheh, who formerly chaired the National Security and Foreign Affairs Commission of the Majlis, said, “We may have given $20-30 billion to Syria. The money of this nation was spent there.”

WHAT ARE THE IRAN PROTESTS OF 2019?

Sunday, May 24, 2020, marks the 192nd day since the beginning of the nationwide Iran protests.

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) has identified 755 of the more than 1500 protesters killed by the regime so far.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has called on the United Nations to urgently send an international fact-finding mission to Iranian prisons to meet with the detainees.
