Ahmadinejad can refuse Majlis laws if he wants to

NCRI – Amid continuing infighting within the regime’s ruling faction, an aide to the mullahs’ President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has warned that Ahmadinejad can refuse to comply with laws passed by Majlis (parliament) if he chooses to.

According to Khabar Online on Saturday, Javan Fekr also lashed out at the mullahs’ Expediency Council, which is headed by Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, saying, “Currently, the Expediency Council has adopted a dangerous interpretation and wants to enact laws itself.

We are absolutely against this and [Ahmadinejad] has dissented against this illegal move. He will not allow this trend to become institutionalized.”

“The president can refuse to accept the law if he deems it contrary to the constitution,” he added.

“This is because the president implements the constitution. Even if a resolution has passed through the proper legal channels and has been approved by the Guardian Council, but the government cannot execute it, then the government can resort to a decree.”
