EU Urged to Blacklist Iranian Regime’s Revolutionary Guards as Terrorist Organization

ISJ ashraf 3 104 indictments (1)

The International Committee ‘In Search of Justice’ (ISJ) has formally petitioned the European Union to designate the Iranian regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist entity. In a letter addressed to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the ISJ highlighted the IRGC’s involvement in terrorist activities, support for extremist groups, and a history of human rights abuses within Iran.

The ISJ argues that merely listing individuals and entities of the IRGC under various EU sanctions regimes is insufficient, as most of these entities have no direct connections with the EU and remain unaffected by sanctions. By failing to blacklist the IRGC, the EU inadvertently legitimizes its actions and poses a threat to regional and global security.

Signatories to the letter include prominent figures such as ISJ President Alejo Vidal-Quadras, former European Parliament Vice President, Struan Stevenson, former President of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with Iraq, and Paulo Casaca, former Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Copies of the letter were also forwarded to the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola.

The letter addressed by the International Committee ‘In Search of Justice’ to EU leaders has been published on the ISJ website, with the full text provided below:
