The government of Lebanon has rejected an offer of military aid from Iran, the Iranian regime’s Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan said on Tuesday.

The state-run Mehr News Agency quoted Dehghan as saying: “Iran was ready to send military equipment to Lebanon and was waiting for the Lebanese government’s approval, but they rejected the offer.”

The U.S. had warned the Lebanese government against accepting the Iranian offer.

In October, the United States had threatened to halt all aid to Lebanon if Beirut accepts military aid offered by the Iranian regime during a visit to the country by Ali Shamkhani, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

According to reports by local media in Lebanon the Iranian regime had offered to send the Lebanese army “TOW (anti-tank) missiles and launchers, night goggles, 120mm and 60mm mortar shells, ammunition for T55 and T62 tanks, and Doshka machine-guns and ammunition”.

The U.S. State Department has said that military aid to Lebanon would be seen as a violation of international sanctions on Iran.

Ali Shamkhani visited Lebanon and Syria on September 30, 2014 and met with Lebanese and Syrian officials.

The National Council of Resistance of Iran revealed a confidential report that the council prepared for clerical regime’s leaders.

This report emphasizes that Ali Khamenei has ordered that all necessary steps should be taken to preserve and complete the Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen ring in order to encircle the rest of the Arab countries.
