Iran: call for release of political prisoners’ families arrested outside of Evin Prison

ncri-statement

On the morning of Saturday, November 21, repressive forces attacked a gathering staged by the families of martyrs and political prisoners outside Evin Prison, severely beating all and arresting dozens.

Amongst the arrested women are Simin Ayuzzadeh, the mother of political prisoner Omid Ali Shenas, who has been transferred to Gharchak Varamin Prison, known as the second “Kahrizak” (a notorious prison where inmates are placed under horrific tortures).

Hashem Zeinali, the father of Saeed Zeinali, a college student abducted by intelligence agents following the 1999 uprising in Iran, was amongst those arrested on Saturday. The mullahs’ regime has for the past 17 years refused to publish any information about the whereabouts of his son.
A number of those arrested are individuals who have protested the criminal execution sentence issued for prisoner of conscience Mohammad Ali Taheri.
The Iranian Resistance calls on the Iranian people and especially the brave youth to rise in support and solidarity with the families of political prisoners, especially those arrested recently. The Iranian Resistance also calls on all international human rights officials and organizations, especially the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, special rapporteurs on Arbitrary Detention and Torture, and the Special Rapporteur of Human Rights in Iran to strongly condemn this vicious crackdown and take urgent action for the immediate release of all individuals arrested.
