Iran: Supreme Court Upholds Death Sentence for Political Prisoner Manouchehr Fallah on the charge of membership in PMOI
- Urgent Call for Action to Save Manouchehr Fallah and Other Political Prisoners on Death Row
The clerical regime’s Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence of Manouchehr Fallah, a political prisoner held in Rasht, on the charge of membership in the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). His case has been referred to the Implementation of Verdicts Office in Rasht.
As previously stated in statements by the Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) in August 2024, February 2025 and May 2026, Manouchehr Fallah, born in 1984, was arrested in June 2023 at Rasht Airport and incarcerated in Rasht’s Lakan Prison. In February 2025, he was sentenced to death by the notorious Second Branch of the Revolutionary Court in Rasht, presided over by Mohammad Ali Darvish Goftar.
Subsequently, the regime’s Supreme Court referred the case to a parallel branch for re-examination, presided over by Ahmad Darvish Goftar (father of Mohammad Ali Darvish Goftar). In May 2026, this branch again sentenced him to death, and the verdict has now been upheld by the Supreme Court. Consequently, Manouchehr Fallah is at imminent risk of execution.
Brutal executions and the issuance of criminal death sentences and long-term imprisonment, particularly against political prisoners and valiant rebellious youths, represent the desperate efforts of the religious fascism to counter the raging anger of the people and prevent a popular uprising.
The Iranian Resistance urges immediate and effective action by the United Nations and relevant international bodies to save the lives of Manouchehr Fallah and other prisoners condemned to death. It once again calls for an international fact-finding mission to visit Iran’s prisons and meet with prisoners, especially political prisoners on death row.
