NCRI – Iran ruling elite must cease their bitter internal feuding and unite against their enemies to ensure the survival of the regime, the country’s former defense minister Ali Shamkhani has warned.
His comments come following a purge of the senior politicians opposed to the Supreme Leader ahead of the June presidential election.
Shamkhani said: “Unfortunately our walls of sensitivity has collapsed, but they did not collapse by themselves – someone knocked them down.
“We have been insulting each other with increasingly strong language we are continuously creating new phrases to call each other. But instead of issuing slurs, when someone makes a mistake we should be trying to help him, guide him and give him another chance.
“We shouldn’t allow anyone to be distracted from the path of the revolution. But instead, you can’t find anyone who has not been called by a name. Some are called seditious, some deviant, some lacking vision and so on.”
Shamkhani also remarked on the regime’s increasing international isolation, adding: “We are a minority in the region and the world. So we must stop fighting amongst ourselves. We are all in the same boat.
“Our enemies oppose Imam Khomeini, and they oppose the Supreme Leader Khamenei. We must be defend what is important to us.”
Many onlookers believe the recent disqualification of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei as presidential candidates has seriously undermined the regime’s power base and control.
