Iran Is Taking Over the Strait of Hormuz Islands – The Only Exit for US Carrier Ike
For much of this year and before 7 October, naval gazers had about four areas to look at. First, the ongoing fight in the Black Sea with the Russian blockade weaponizing hunger despite regular Ukrainian successes there. The Russians were also keeping navies busy in the high north and the North Atlantic.
At a more strategic level, only yesterday in London the Cross-party Members of Parliament, Iran experts, and representatives of the Iranian democratic opposition coalition, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) met to discuss this. One subject of discussion was the UK perhaps listing the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), the Iranian theocracy’s shock troops – separate from the regular Iranian armed forces – as a terrorist organisation. Getting both the US and the UK to take a more robust stance in recognising the Iranian Regime’s centrality to malfeasance in the region and, critically, within their own countries, ran through the whole meeting.

PMOI Resistance Units: The Head of the Snake Is in Tehran
In parallel with fanning the flames of war and destruction in the Middle East region, Iran’s regime has been engaged in a widespread campaign of suppression at home. In the past month alone, the regime has carried out more than 100 executions. The regime has also ratcheted up political executions, including the recent execution of Milad Zohrevand, a youth arrested during the 2022 uprising, and Ali Saber Motlaq, a supporter of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI).
The regime’s goal is to cause terror and fear in society and dissuade people from joining the ranks of the resistance and organized protests. However, the regime has failed to achieve its goals as, as is evident in the activities of Resistance Units, the network of PMOI supporters inside Iran.

Price of Clothing in Iran has Surged 127-fold in 3 Decades
Over the past three decades, Iranians have experienced a seismic shift in their cost of living, with significant impacts on essential aspects such as food, housing, and clothing.
Three decades ago, the annual cost of clothing for the average Iranian was a modest 11,000 tomans. Fast forward to the present day, and this figure has surged to a staggering 1.41 million tomans, representing a remarkable 127-fold increase. It is essential to note that these statistics, derived from official reports, may not comprehensively capture the actual inflation in the clothing sector, often surpassing the conservative estimates.
Even the official reports from the central bank and statistics center acknowledge a substantial inflationary trend in the clothing sector. In 1993, the average Iranian household in urban areas spent nearly 600,000 tomans annually, with approximately 55,270 tomans allocated to clothing expenses. This equates to an average yearly clothing expenditure of 11,540 tomans per individual.
