The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign entered its 85th week on September 9, 2025, amid a new surge of executions across Iran. Prisoners in 52 facilities announced participation in this week’s hunger strike, with Sabzevar Prison joining the movement for the first time.
Executions Spark Outrage and Protests
In its latest statement, the campaign condemned the killing of political prisoner Mehran Bahramian in Semirom: “The ruthless and inhumane execution of Mehran Bahramian, a political prisoner in Semirom, not only deprived one individual of the right to life but ignited a fire of anger and protest in the hearts of his family and the noble people of this city.”
Local residents and shopkeepers in Semirom staged a strike in protest, which the campaign hailed as proof that “our people will not remain silent in the face of these crimes and will continue to fight until their rights are achieved.”
The campaign also revealed that the regime secretly executed two Sunni prisoners of conscience, Eskandar Bazmandegan and Mohammad Kashefi, in Shiraz’s Adelabad Prison.

Shocking Statistics of Regime Executions
The statement underlined the scale of the regime’s ongoing repression: “Since the beginning of Shahrivar (August 23), 92 prisoners, including four women, have been executed. Only last week, the regime’s machinery of death claimed 46 lives.”
Since the start of the Iranian year 1404 (March 21, 2025), at least 756 executions have taken place, with more than 13 percent carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison alone.
Expanding Resistance Inside Prisons
In a significant development, prisoners from Sabzevar Prison declared their decision to join the campaign. The statement read: “A group of prisoners in Sabzevar Prison announced they will join the ‘No to Execution Tuesdays’ campaign from this week and will go on hunger strike every Tuesday in protest against the regime’s wave of executions.”
This marks yet another expansion of the campaign’s nationwide network of defiance inside prisons.

A Call for Unity Against Executions
Reaffirming their stance, the campaign declared: “Execution is a tool for the blatant violation of human rights and the suppression of freedoms. We demand the immediate and complete halt of all executions across the country.”
The statement emphasized that the campaign’s voice represents solidarity with victims and grieving families: “The voice of the campaign is the voice of unity and support for all victims of the regime’s inhumane policies in Iran. Until justice, freedom, and respect for human rights are realized, this voice will multiply in prisons.”
It further urged all Iranians to follow the example of Semirom’s residents: “We invite all honorable and freedom-loving people to raise the flag of ‘No to Execution’ in every city and every street, following the example of grieving families and the noble people of Semirom.”
The statement concluded with a powerful affirmation: “Life is a fundamental right of every human being, and no government has the authority to take it away. Out of respect for the spilled blood and mourning families, we must cry out: No to execution, no to dictatorship and repression, yes to justice and people’s sovereignty.”
