Caught in a web of crises and successive domestic and international failures, and amid intensifying infighting within his regime, Ali Khamenei is accelerating the machinery of execution and repression in Iran in an attempt to block uprisings and prevent an explosion of popular anger. According to reports received thus far, between Saturday and Tuesday, October 11 to 14, at least 26 prisoners were executed, and many inmates were transferred to solitary confinement for the implementation of their death sentences.
According to reports received by noon on Tuesday, October 14, Khamenei’s executioners hanged seven prisoners: Yarhossein Nazarian, Mostafa Mirzaei, and Ayoub Latifian in Khorramabad; Ebrahim Delaram and Allahkaram Ghasemi in Yasuj; Yahya Najafi in Gachsaran; and Ehsan Pour-Masoumi in Sirjan.
On Monday, October 13, eight prisoners, including one woman, were sent to the gallows: Morteza Darvishi and Ebrahim Risi in Minab; Mousa Yeganeh in Qazvin; Sobhan Safinejad, Zeinab Khodabandeh, and three other prisoners in Isfahan.
On Sunday, October 12, six prisoners were executed: Esmail Roshani in Kashan; Behzad Moridan and Hassan Sohrabi in Arak; Saadi Khalifeh, 36, and Hamid Abdali in Dezful; and Fardin Parvizi, 26, in Semnan.
On Saturday, October 11, Rahman Kohzadi and Ali Akbar Hassani, 30, were executed in Zanjan; Homayoun Safari in Ilam; Mohammadreza Akhbari in Yasuj; and Hafez Rahmati in Khorramabad.
The Iranian Resistance calls on the United Nations and relevant agencies, the European Union and its member states, and all international human rights bodies and advocates to take urgent action to save the lives of prisoners sentenced to death.
