Nationwide Uprising- No. 18

On Sunday, January 4, 2026, the eighth day of Iran’s nationwide uprising, merchants and shopkeepers in Tehran went on strike and protested in various areas, including the fabric bazaar and mobile phone market. On Saadi and Jomhuri streets, at the Jomhuri intersection, Hafez Bridge, and in the Alaeddin, Mobile Market, and Charsou passages, security forces attacked youths and shopkeepers with tear gas as they chanted ‘Death to the dictator’ and ‘This is the year of blood, Seyyed Ali [Khamenei] will be overthrown.’ Rebellious youths blocked the streets by setting trash containers ablaze and clashed with the mercenaries. The regime’s plainclothes agents are carrying out widespread, indiscriminate arrests on Hafez and Jomhuri streets. At Tarbiat Modares University, students chanted slogans such as ‘This is the year of blood, Seyyed Ali will be overthrown’ and ‘Death to Khamenei,’ and shouted at the repressive Basij forces, ‘Basiji, get lost.’

In Dargahan, Qeshm, protesters also clashed with repressive police forces who opened fire on them. Meanwhile, residents of Marvdasht again held demonstrations, chanting anti-government slogans.

On Saturday evening, January 3, various cities were also the scene of hit-and-run battles with the Revolutionary Guards and Basij members. In Khorramabad, clashes spread to the southern part of the city and the Masur district. In Borujerd, Dorud, and Aleshtar, people clashed with repressive forces who opened fire on the crowd. In Murmuri, Ilam, courageous youths set fire to a regime’s seminary. In Malekshahi, people gathered in front of the hospital to protest the killing of their children. In Neyriz, youths attacked the governor’s office building, and in Mahalat, they set a police kiosk on fire. In Mashhad, Shiraz, Gachsaran, and Birjand, nightly demonstrations also took place, with protesters chanting ‘Death to Khamenei.’
