Iran: Death Sentence Issued for Political Prisoner and PMOI Supporter Arghavan Fallahi
- Call for immediate action to save Arghavan Fallahi and other death-row prisoners
Yesterday (July 1, 2026), the regime’s judiciary sentenced Arghavan Fallahi, a political prisoner and supporter of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), to death. The sentence, which was communicated to her lawyer, was issued by Branch 15 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court, presided over by the notorious judge Abolqasem Salavati.
Arghavan, 25, was arrested by repressive forces on January 25, 2025, in the city of Parand and transferred to Ward 241 of Evin Prison, which is controlled by the Judiciary’s Intelligence Protection Unit. She spent about five months in solitary confinement, undergoing interrogation and brutal physical and psychological torture. Following the bombardment and evacuation of Evin, she was transferred to solitary confinement in Fashafuyeh Prison (Greater Tehran Central Penitentiary). She is currently held in the women’s ward of Evin Prison.
Arghavan Fallahi had previously been arrested on November 4, 2022, in Shiraz along with her father, Nasrollah Fallahi. Nasrollah Fallahi, a political prisoner from the 1980s, is currently serving a five-year prison sentence in Ward 7 of Evin Prison.
The Iranian Resistance calls on the United Nations, its relevant bodies, and all human rights organizations to take immediate action to save the life of Arghavan Fallahi and other death-row political prisoners and to secure their release. It reiterates the need for an international fact-finding mission to visit Iranian prisons and meet with political prisoners.
