Mrs. Maryam Rajavi: The heart of the problem is the usurpation of the people’s sovereignty by the warmongering dictatorship, and the solution lies in uprising and protest
On Sunday, July 12, 2026, a large number of Social Security retirees, plundered depositors, and workers in various cities—including Tehran, Shush, Ahvaz, Dezful, Kermanshah, Rasht, Karaj, and Tabriz—staged protests and marches to voice their anger over poverty, high prices, inflation, and the systemic plundering by the mullahs’ regime.
Social Security retirees in Shush, Ahvaz, Kermanshah, Tehran, Rasht, and Dezful expressed their outrage with slogans such as, ‘We will not back down until we get our rights,’ ‘Only on the streets will we obtain our rights,’ ‘Enough of warmongering, our tables are empty,’ ‘Inflation and high prices, no to war and ruin,’ ‘Imprisoned workers must be released,’ ‘Excessive oppression has brought us to the streets,’ ‘The street is our stronghold,’ and ‘Incompetent government, we don’t want it, we don’t want it!’
Protesters highlighted that while the regime claims there is no budget to pay the meager pensions of retirees, astronomical monthly bonuses of 50 to 90 million tomans are distributed under various pretexts among the corrupt managers of the Social Security Organization.

Simultaneously, plundered clients of three companies in Tabriz held a protest gathering in Tehran to denounce the complicity of state institutions in looting their assets and the inaction of the regime’s judiciary in Tabriz, chanting: ‘Enough of empty promises, our tables are empty!’
In Tabriz, a group of defrauded property owners of Daneshvaran town, who have faced uncertainty for 30 years, held a protest gathering outside the city’s sham municipal council building.
Saluting the resilient retirees and workers who took to the streets in grueling heat to demand their basic rights, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said: ‘With slogans like “Only on the streets will we obtain our rights,” “Enough of warmongering, our tables are empty,” and “Imprisoned workers and teachers must be freed,” the protesters demonstrated that the heart of the problem is the usurpation of the people’s sovereignty by the warmongering mullahs’ dictatorship, and the solution lies in uprising and protest.’
