The clerical regime’s judiciary has sentenced political prisoner Amir Hassan Akbari-Monfared, currently held in Evin Prison, to death on the charge of “rebellion (Baghy) through contact with the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).” This retaliatory sentence was issued by Branch 15 of Tehran’s notorious Revolutionary Court, presided over by the executioner Abolqasem Salavati, solely due to his family relationship with the martyred PMOI member Farshid Asadi, in connection with the “Abdar-chi” (tea dispenser) case and the elimination of executioners Razini and Moqiseh.
The Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) previously announced in its statements on May 22 and July 4, 2025, that Amir Hassan Akbari-Monfared, a 22-year-old accounting student from Karaj, was arrested on January 19, 2025, a day after the elimination of Razini and Moqiseh, during a raid on his home by intelligence agents. He was subjected to severe torture in Ward 209 of Evin Prison to extract forced confessions. Following the bombing of Evin, Amir Hassan was transferred to Fashafouyeh Prison and was returned to Evin in subsequent months.
Four members of the Akbari-Monfared family—PMOI members Alireza, Gholamreza, Abdolreza, and Roghayeh Akbari-Monfared—were martyred by Khomeini’s executioners in the 1980s.
The Iranian Resistance urges the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Human Rights Council, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, the Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, and all international human rights organizations to take immediate action to revoke the criminal death sentence of Amir Hassan and save his life.
