Iran: 23 Executions in the First Four Days of Shahrivar, Averaging One Every Four Hours
- Three women are among those executed
In just the first four days of the Iranian calendar month of Shahrivar (August 23–26), the executioners of the mullahs’ regime hanged 23 prisoners, averaging nearly one execution every four hours. Three women were among those executed.
On Wednesday, August 26, three prisoners were executed: Mostafa Vosoughi in Khorramabad Central Prison, and Masoud Hemmati and Esmail Ajami in Sari Central Prison.
On Tuesday, August 25, six prisoners were sent to the gallows: two brothers, Saeed and Hamid Najafi, in Ghezel Hesar Prison; Zahra Azizpour and Hedayat Jamalzadeh in Lakan Prison in Rasht; Ali Asghar Salarzehi in Yazd Central Prison; and Omid (Ali Akbar) Shahoozehi in Zahedan Central Prison.
On Monday, August 24, six prisoners were executed: Arezoo Rastad, 23, Saleh Zeidabadi and his nephew Meraat Zeidabadi, and Amir Danaei in Isfahan; Bahram Keshavarzi in Shiraz; and a prisoner named Mosayeb in Mashhad Prison.
On Sunday, August 23, in addition to the uprising prisoner Majid Adineh, seven other prisoners were executed: Fatemeh Kamal-Zare in Karaj, Ardalan Sabzi in Maku, Mohammad Ali Kafashi and Hamed Emami in Semnan, Mahmoud Talebi and Hossein Hesari in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, and Navid Mohammadpour in Dehdasht Central Prison.
Emphasizing that religious fascism’s goal in carrying out these criminal executions is to prevent the explosion of popular anger and the outbreak of a public uprising, the Iranian Resistance once again calls on the United Nations, relevant bodies, and all human rights advocates to take immediate action to stop the mullahs’ execution and killing machine. Relations with the world’s record holder of executions must be made contingent upon halting torture and executions.
