Simultaneous Protests by Iran Air Retirees and Khosheh Saba Workers Across Iran

Homa (Iran Air) retirees gather in Tehran on October 27, 2026, to protest pension and livelihood conditions amid Iran’s deepening economic crisis

Labor and civil unrest surged across Iran today as retired staff from the national carrier, Iran Air (Homa), gathered in Tehran, coinciding with demonstrations by workers from the Khosheh Saba agro-industrial complex in East Azerbaijan province. This coordinated mobilization highlights a deepening livelihood crisis and economic devastation born from decades of systematic looting, the squandering of national resources on foreign military ventures, and the subordination of productive assets to corrupt networks and security-affiliated holding companies.

Dozens of retirees and former technical personnel of the national flag carrier assembled outside the company’s central headquarters and relevant ministries in Tehran, carrying banners denouncing the authorities’ refusal to honor their fundamental rights.

  • Collapse of Healthcare Coverage: Demonstrators rallied against the effective cancellation of supplementary health insurance and specialized medical clinic services that previously guaranteed care, leaving thousands of elderly retirees and their dependents crushed by exorbitant medical costs without baseline coverage.

Women Banned from Outdoor Sports: Discrimination and Profiteering in One Picture

At a time when the country’s economy has collapsed and people are struggling without basic necessities like water, electricity, gas, and food, the regime is cracking down on women instead of offering solutions to these pressing daily crises. Women have been barred from using the outdoor facilities of the Keshvari sports complex in Tehran and are now restricted to indoor halls. According to a report published by Rouydad24 on October 25, 2026, the new restrictions took effect at the beginning of the Iranian month of Aban.

The measure represents yet another manifestation of the misogynistic regime’s policy of gender segregation and the systematic restriction of women’s rights. Beyond denying women equal access to sports facilities, the policy places their health, safety, and athletic development at risk.

Under the new directive, women athletes are no longer permitted to train on the outdoor tracks and open grounds of the complex. Instead, they are limited to designated hours and locations inside an indoor facility. Officials have justified the measure on the grounds of observing “moral and social standards,” a term commonly used by the Iranian regime to enforce compulsory veiling and expand gender segregation policies targeting women.

Iran Reports Medicine Shortages and Rising Prices as Patients Shoulder 55% of Healthcare Costs

TEHRAN — Iranian financial officials say foreign currency funding for medicines has increased this year and that the central bank faces no restrictions in providing foreign currency or rial resources for the sector. But reports published over the past week by health officials, lawmakers and insurance bodies point to sharp increases in the prices of some medicines, disagreements over the number of scarce drugs, lengthy delays in payments owed to pharmacies and difficulties obtaining some specialized medicines. The reports come as Iranian officials have cited sanctions, transportation problems and rising import costs as factors putting pressure on the supply chain.

Abdolnaser Hemmati, governor of the Central Bank of Iran, said nearly $3.3 billion in foreign currency for medicines was supplied during the first seven months of the Iranian year 1405, an increase of 28% compared with the same period a year earlier. He said, “There have been no restrictions whatsoever at the central bank in terms of providing foreign currency and rial resources,” adding that some of the current problems involving medicines may be related to logistical issues.

Iran’s Deepening Economic Abyss: A Full Day’s Labor Buys Barely 1.5 Kilograms of Chicken

State-affiliated media acknowledge catastrophic food inflation, predatory currency policies, and unchecked corruption, as basic sustenance slips beyond the reach of millions of working-class families.

Iran’s protracted economic crisis has plunged the country’s working class into an unprecedented survival catastrophe. In late October 2026, state-run outlets, citing reports from the Iranian Labour News Agency (ILNA) and the Jamaran website, admitted that runaway price hikes have effectively wiped out the last remaining source of animal protein from the tables of millions of workers, teachers, and public healthcare employees.

Within a single week, the price of poultry surged by 700,000 rials per kilogram, reaching an official market rate of 350,000 rials—a 25% single-week increase. Under current labor regulations, Iran’s daily minimum wage stands at 5,540,000 rials. Consequently, an Iranian laborer working an exhaustive full-day shift cannot even afford two kilograms of chicken; an entire day’s wage barely covers a single 1.5-kilogram bird.
