FRANKFURT (AP) — France and Germany are threatening Iran with more sanctions, following a report that Tehran may be working on a nuclear warhead.
A report by the International Atomic Energy Agency yesterday suggested Iran had either resumed working on a nuclear weapon or had never stopped.
A French Foreign Ministry spokesman says the report "shows how urgent it is to act with determination to respond to the absence of cooperation by Iran."
Germany's foreign minister says, "Iran has the right to use nuclear energy for civil purposes, but it has no right to create nuclear weapons." Germany's leading insurance companies announced they would quit doing business in the country.
Iran says it has no interest in developing nuclear arms.
