Families, Supporters of PMOI/MEK, Former Political Prisoners Arrested

NCRI logoSimultaneous with the escalation of the nationwide uprising, the mullahs’ regime arrested several family members and supporters of the People’s Mojahedin of Iran Organization (PMOI/MEK) as well as former political prisoners. The regime’s agents searched their homes and confiscated their computers and cell phones.

Ali Moezi, 70, a former political prisoner, was arrested on Saturday, October 1, when security agents raided his home and transferred him to Evin Prison’s Ward 209. He is suffering from cancer and kidney ailment and had recently undergone prostate surgery. Mr. Moezi, whose two daughters are members of the PMOI/MEK, was in prison for several years in the 1980s. He spent two years in the 2000s and five years in the 2010s for supporting the PMOI/MEK.

Asadollah Hadi, 65, a former political prisoner, was also arrested on October 1 and transferred to Ward 209. He was imprisoned in the 1980s, 2000s, and 2010s. He is suffering from heart and kidney problems.

Ali Khademi, the supporter of the PMOI/MEK, was also arrested on October 1 and transferred to Evin prison. He is held hostage so that they can capture his son.

Ms. Houri (Fatemeh) Ziaei Azad, 60, a former political prisoner and mother of two PMOI/MEK members, was arrested in September at her home in Tehran and transferred to Evin Prison’s Ward 209. She is suffering from MS and receives no medicine and necessary medical care. Ms. Ziaei is one of the political prisoners of the 1980s who was imprisoned again in the 2000s and 2010s.

In the same month, Khosrow Rahnama, imprisoned for seven years in the 1980s, was arrested and transferred to Evin Prison.

The Iranian Resistance once again calls on the United Nations and human rights organizations to take immediate actions to secure the release of political prisoners and those arrested during the course of the uprising and underscored the need for the formation of an international mission to visit the prisons in Iran and meet with the prisoners, especially the political prisoners.
