The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Friday, July 24, 2020, that the number of Coronavirus fatalities in 347 cities across Iran had passed 75,900. The number of victims in Tehran is 18,800, Khorasan Razavi 5,625, Khuzestan 5,550, West Azerbaijan 2,285, East Azerbaijan 2,215, Fars 1,870, Khorasan North 1,055, Bushehr 817, Zanjan 710, Ilam 585, and South Khorasan 267.
While according to the Health Ministry, 25 of the 31 provinces of the country are red or on alert, and even the state-controlled statistics are constantly setting a new record in the number of victims and critically ill, Rouhani, speaking at the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT), said, yesterday, “The reason for the resurgence of the Coronavirus in some parts of the country was not economic and social activities, but the lack of strict and complete observance of instructions on holding gatherings and re-unions such as weddings and funerals and mourning ceremonies.” This is while, the day before, Iraj Harirchi, the regime’s Deputy Health Minister, told ILNA, “The number of deaths has increased by 50% compared to March, which is the result of our negligence and reopening (businesses, etc.).”
The daily, Resalat, affiliated with Khamenei wrote, yesterday, “Although the statistics are a new record and a sign of a terrible increase in the virus, it seems that the policy of the gentlemen, especially the president, is based on overall infection with the virus. Sometimes, general theories are spoken by officials and even experts, saying that the virus will spread more if health protocols are not followed. Everyone knows these, but practical measures must be taken to prevent the spread … One of the problems is that, unfortunately, some (officials), including the president, enter areas of specialization in which they have no expertise!”
According to the state-run daily, Aftab-news, today, Haririchi compared the Coronavirus death toll of more than 200 per day with that of the Iran-Iraq war, which was “around 60 a day” and said, “Currently, more than 20% of deaths in the country account for the Coronavirus outbreak. Previously, all infectious diseases made up less than 20% of the fatalities.”

The head of North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences told Fars news agency today, “This Province is among the top four provinces where the number of hospitalizations due to Coronavirus is increasing. Currently, the situation is red in the cities of Shirvan, Esfarayen, Bojnurd, Maneh Va Samalqan.”
In Fars, the public relations office of Shiraz Medical University of Sciences was quoted by Fars news agency as saying yesterday, “Currently, 1,214 patients suspected of being infected with Coronavirus are hospitalized in the Province’s hospitals and 116 patients are hospitalized in the intensive care unit. In the past 24 hours, 13 people have lost their lives.”
In Zanjan, the vice president of Zanjan University of Medical Sciences told IRNA today, “Currently, most areas of the Province are red… With the upcoming cold seasons, we will face serious challenges in providing services to patients.”
