At Least 170 Prisoners Executed in the First 22 Days of Mehr
International Call to Support the Ghezel Hesar Hunger Strike and Take Immediate Action to Save the Lives of Those Sentenced to Death
Today, October 14, 2025, marks the second day of the hunger strike by prisoners in Ghezel Hesar Prison protesting the execution of their fellow inmates. This strike began yesterday, initiated by 1,500 death row prisoners in Halls 1, 2, 3, and 4 of Unit 2 of Ghezel Hesar. The notorious prison warden, Karamollah Azizi, threatened the prisoners that if they did not end their strike, he would close the prison store and shut down the kitchen. The inmates firmly responded to his threats, saying, “Go ahead and close them! There’s nothing worse than this!”
Last night, the prison warden summoned two representatives from each hall for talks and intimidation. In a meeting attended by the head of the Prisons Organization and a cleric named Hossein-Zadeh, who oversees the implementation of executions, they deceitfully urged the prisoners’ representatives to end their strike, promising that the number of daily executions would gradually be reduced. However, the prisoners declared that they would continue their hunger strike until their demands were met.
The ruling religious fascism in Iran, in an unprecedented attempt to spread fear and prevent public uprisings, has dramatically increased the number of executions. According to reports received by the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of noon today, at least 170 prisoners have fallen victim to the regime’s machinery of execution and slaughter in the last 22 days. In other words, every three hours, one of our compatriots is executed by order of Khamenei, the tyrant—a level of brutality unseen since 1989.
The Iranian Resistance calls on the United Nations and its relevant agencies, the European Union and its member states, and all human rights advocates to support the Ghezel Hesar hunger strike and take immediate action to save the lives of prisoners on death row. It is time for the regime of execution and terror to be expelled from the international community, and for its bloodstained leaders to be brought to justice.
