Call for Action to Overturn This Criminal Verdict

Today, Sunday, February 2, 2025, the death sentence of political prisoner Manouchehr Fallah was issued by the criminal judge Mohammad Ali Darvish Goftar in the so-called revolutionary court of Rasht. He was convicted on the charge of “enmity against God (Moharebeh) through actions against the security of the regime.” Manouchehr, who is being held in Lakan Prison in Rasht, was tried via videoconference on December 11, 2024. He was accused of damaging the buildings of the IRGC Intelligence and the Gilan Judiciary. Throughout the legal proceedings, he was denied access to a lawyer.

Manouchehr, 40 years old, was arrested by regime security forces at Rasht Airport on July 1, 2023. Initially, he was sentenced to 15 months in prison by Branch 3 of the revolutionary court in Rasht, presided over by Mehdi Rasekhi, on charges of insulting Ali Khamenei and propaganda against the regime. However, while serving his sentence, and despite having completed his prison term, a new case was fabricated against him, leading to his death sentence.

The Iranian Resistance calls for urgent action by the United Nations, its member states, and the European Union to overturn Manouchehr Fallah’s death sentence and secure the release of all political prisoners.
