NCRI – The clerical regime ruling Iran hanged 16 prisoners over the past week in Kermanshah, western Iran; Zahedan, Southeast Iran; Isfahan, central Iran; Orumieh and Miyandoab, northwest Iran.
Mr. Mehdi Ghasem Zadeh, a follower of "Ahl-e-Haq" (a Shiite offshoot adhering to Imam Ali, the first Shiite Imam) was hanged in Orumieh, on February 28. Eleven other prisoners were hanged the following day in Kermanshah.
On March 3, two prisoners were hanged in Zahedan charged for being at war with God, ILNA state-run news agency reported. The execution of Mostafa Hosseini, 37, who was in Ward 4 of Isfahan’s Central Prison followed on March 4.
A 25-year-old prisoner by the name of Nader Shokrollahi was hanged in Miandoab prison is among those hanged over the past week. Abdullah Farivar, a music teacher and father of two children was also reported to have been hanged in the city of Sari on February 20.
The Iranian Resistance calls on all international human rights organizations in particular the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to condemn rising trend of executions in Iran and calls for referral of the regime’s horrific dossier of human rights to the UN Security Council for adoption of immediate and binding measures to prevent rights abuses.
