Iran: Execution of 19 Prisoners Between Monday and Thursday, May 12–15, Including Two Juvenile Offenders and One Woman

At Least 1,164 Executions Under Pezeshkian—An Unprecedented Record of Brutality and Crime in the Past Three Decades

Khamenei’s executioners carried out the executions of at least 19 prisoners, including two juvenile offenders and one woman, between Monday and Thursday, May 12 to May 15. With these latest executions, the number of individuals executed since August 2024 during Pezeshkian’s tenure has reached at least 1,164—a shocking and unprecedented record of savagery and crime over the past thirty years.

On Thursday, May 15, two prisoners, Reza Dahmardeh, aged 24, and Mohammad Ebrahim Esfandiari, were executed in Zabol prison and Vakilabad prison in Shiraz, respectively. On Wednesday, May 14, five prisoners were hanged: Reza Miri, Gholamabbas Cheraghian, and Sajad Moradi in Qezelhessar; Moshir Osmanzadeh in Urmia; and Hadi Soleimani, aged 18, who was under 18 at the time of the alleged offense, in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz.

On Tuesday, May 13, Mohammad Reza Sabzi, aged 20—who was 16 at the time of the alleged crime—was executed in Malayer. Ibrahim Joghtayi was executed in Gonabad, and another unnamed prisoner was hanged in Qezelhessar.

On Monday, May 12, nine prisoners were executed. In addition to those named in a previous statement, the victims included Mahmoud Hojatzadeh, aged 35, in Isfahan; Ne’mat Piri Zali, Mohammad Abdi, and Jalil Azizi in Arak; and Kourosh Jalili in Qezelhessar.

On Wednesday, May 7, Mahtab Amiri was hanged in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz. On Tuesday, May 6, Payam Mokhtari was executed in Tabriz Central Prison, while Ali Abolhosseini, 32, and Asrar Amani, 30, were executed in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz.

A regime that serves as the godfather of executions, massacres, and terrorism in today’s world must be expelled from the international community, and its leaders must be brought to justice for crimes against humanity and genocide. Any form of engagement or appeasement with the ruling clerics in Iran only fuels the machinery of crime, terror, and war.
