Brutal Mass Execution of Prisoners: 27 Executions on March 1 Alone and 54 in Four Days
Inaction Against the Regime Fuels Its Execution and Terror Machinery—Its Leaders Must Be Held Accountable Before Justice
Amid intensifying internal power struggles within the regime—evident in the expulsion of Javad Zarif and Abdolnaser Hemmati, the deputy and minister of the economy- and alongside escalating economic and foreign crises, Ali Khamenei has resorted to the ruthless execution of prisoners in an attempt to instill fear and suppress public uprisings. However, each execution drives another nail into the coffin of a regime that has entered its final phase.
In an unprecedented atrocity, Khamenei’s executioners hanged at least 27 prisoners on Saturday, March 1, 2025, just before the start of Ramadan, leaving hundreds of families in mourning. Among them, 10 victims were executed in Mashhad, including Asieh Ghavicheshm, Masoud Barahouei, Aref Sedighpour, Mehrdad Kalbali, Hassan Shahraki, and three brothers: Jalal, Javad, and Alireza Afagh, as well as two other brothers: Gholamhossein and Ebrahim Khalilifar.
Seven individuals were executed in Zahedan, namely Basir Roudini, Morad Saberou, Farhad Dahmardeh, Mousa Pahang, Ghasem Ghanbardzaki, Saadollah Zarei, and Asem Charikar.
Additional executions took place in various cities:
- A father and son in Qorveh,
- Arsalan Pasha and Jalal Shahsavar in Amol,
- Esmail Mozaffari and Yaghoub Mirzajani in Gorgan,
- Mohammad Araqi and Ramin Alaie in Tabriz,
- Mehrdad Asgari-Abadi in Arak,
- Mohammad Tavakoli in Jiroft.
Twelve of these victims were Baluchi compatriots.
Between February 26 and March 1, 2025, a total of 54 prisoners were executed—an average of three executions every five hours. Furthermore, on Sunday, March 2, 2025, the first day of Ramadan, Iraj Memari was executed in Khorramabad.
Silence and inaction in the face of the godfather of executions and terrorism amount to a betrayal of universal human rights principles and the fueling of terrorism and warmongering. This regime must be expelled from the international community, and its leaders must be held accountable before justice for 46 years of crimes against humanity, genocide, and war crimes.
