Iran: Brutal Execution of Courageous Rebel Mohammad Abbasi in Ghezel Hesar Prison on Charges of Participating in the Uprising and the Killing of a Repressive State Security Force (SSF) Colonel in Malard
- Mohammad’s daughter, Fatemeh Abbasi, sentenced to 25 years in prison
- Mrs. Maryam Rajavi: Daily executions signify the regime’s fear of mounting public anger. But the storm of the uprising lies ahead, and the regime cannot escape its overthrow
The regime’s judiciary announced that the courageous rebel Mohammad Abbasi, 55, who was arrested during the January uprising in Malard, was executed by hanging early this morning, Wednesday, May 13, in Ghezel Hesar Prison. His charges were announced as participating “in riotous gatherings and actions against internal security” and involvement in the killing of criminal Colonel Shahin Dehghan, who played an active role in suppressing the uprising.
According to the regime’s judiciary news agency, Mohammad Abbasi attacked the aforementioned colonel with a bayonet on January 7 in the Sarasiab area of Malard.
Mohammad Abbasi, who had been interrogated and tortured in the solitary confinement cells of Ward 209 of Evin Prison, was sentenced to death without access to an independent lawyer by Branch 15 of the sham Revolutionary Court in Tehran, presided over by the executioner Salavati. This criminal sentence was swiftly upheld by Branch 39 of the regime’s Supreme Court, entirely ignoring the appeal for a retrial submitted by his family.

Fatemeh Abbasi, Mohammad’s daughter, who was arrested along with her father, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison and is currently held in the women’s ward of Evin Prison.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, reiterated that the cruel daily executions primarily demonstrate the regime’s terror of mounting public anger and the prospect of an uprising. However, the storm of protests and uprisings lies ahead, and the ruling religious fascism in Iran has no escape from being overthrown.
Mrs. Rajavi called on the UN Secretary-General, the UN Security Council, the UN Human Rights Council, and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to take immediate action to stop executions in Iran. She stated that the silence of UN member states in the face of daily executions in Iran is a blatant disregard for universal human rights values, for whose recognition millions of lives have been sacrificed.
