Iran: Execution of January Uprising Prisoner Siavash Jamshidi in Shahrekord on Charges of Moharebeh

The execution of uprising prisoners aims to curb popular anger, yet such crimes only fuel the resolve of rebellious youths to rise up and overthrow the regime.

In another crime, the mullahs’ regime executed Siavash Jamshidi Kheirabadi, a prisoner of the January uprising, in Shahrekord on charges of “Moharebeh (enmity against God) by wielding a firearm, opening fire, and gathering and colluding against national security” (Mizan news agency, October 3).

The regime’s judiciary, without disclosing the exact time of the execution, claimed that Siavash Jamshidi had a “repeated presence” in the January uprising, sent messages to “various individuals regarding participation in the riots,” and “took action to organize and carry out anti-security measures through cyberspace.” The judiciary further alleged that during the uprising, Siavash “shot at police officers with a military weapon and was arrested with a Colt pistol,” adding that an “M4 military weapon with two magazines” was also discovered in his possession.

Fearing a backlash from this execution, the regime attempted to justify its crime with baseless labels, calling him a “thug” and alleging “multiple criminal records.”

On September 29, two other brave protesters, Ali Hemmati, 21, and Majid Nikandish, 25, were hanged in Mashhad. Fearing an escalation of the uprising, religious fascism is desperately trying to prevent an explosion of popular anger through the continuous execution of rebellious youths and the deployment of suppressive forces. However, these executions only further ignite the fire of rebellion among the youth seeking to overthrow the regime.

The Iranian Resistance strongly condemns the criminal execution of Siavash Jamshidi and reiterates its call to the United Nations and international human rights organizations for immediate, effective action to halt the execution of political and uprising prisoners. A visit by an international fact-finding mission to Iran’s prisons to investigate the situation of political prisoners on death row is essential.
