Conspiracy to transfer prisoners to Varamin’s Qarchak Prison to exert maximum pressure

On July 12, henchmen of the mullahs’ regime, in a repressive measure to isolate and pressure political prisoners, raided the women’s ward of Evin Prison.

During the raid on Ward 6, prison guard mercenaries transferred approximately 50 prisoners convicted of non-political and financial offenses to the upper floor of this ward, where female detainees of the January uprising are also being held. This action, which is a flagrant violation of the principle of the separation of crimes by the regime’s judiciary, was met with strong resistance and protests by the detainees, who chanted ‘Death to the dictator.’

During these protests, the guards’ henchmen clashed with the prisoners, creating an atmosphere of intimidation and physical conflict, and transferred two of the protesting prisoners to solitary confinement. The transferred financial prisoners have also been left in disastrous conditions without access to food and water in the extreme heat.

The henchmen of the regime’s judiciary have announced their intention to dedicate this ward entirely to financial prisoners and exile the political prisoners of Evin to Qarchak Prison in Varamin. Currently, about 60 of the recently detained individuals are being held in the quarantine of Qarchak Prison under inhumane conditions, lacking medical facilities, in a highly confined space, and enduring the agonizing desert heat. The regime’s goal in this relocation is to cut off political prisoners’ communication with the outside world and subject them to harsher physical and psychological pressure.

The Iranian Resistance once again draws the attention of international authorities and human rights organizations to the dire conditions of prisoners in the torture chambers of the mullahs’ regime, calling for immediate action to prevent the exile and further torture of political prisoners, and in particular, a visit by the Special Rapporteur to Qarchak Prison in Varamin and the women’s political prisoners’ ward in Evin.
