Iran – Election Show – No. 1
Regime’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology: only one million people (1.6%) participated in the first two and a half hours.
Reports from the PMOI Social Headquarters inside Iran indicate widespread emptiness in polling stations across the country by Friday noon, Iran time.
Expressing concern over a nationwide boycott, Ali Khamenei pleaded for increased voter participation, stating, “The endurance, strength, dignity, and honor of the Islamic Republic in the world depend on the people’s turnout… If you say some are hesitant, I don’t find any reason to hesitate… Why should one hesitate to do something that costs nothing, requires no effort, time, or pressure…”
Eisa Zar’epour, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology of the regime announced at 10:38 AM today that only one million votes had been cast so far, approximately 1.6% of eligible voters.
In Tehran, major polling stations are deserted. Until 10:30 AM, no one had come to vote at the Hazrat-e Zainab Mosque branch; at the Imam Hassan Girls’ Elementary School branch, only 2 people; at the Hashemi Nejad Elementary School branch, 3 people; and at the Modarres High School branch, 4 people had shown up to vote. No one had come to vote at the Sargord Hossein Elementary School branch in Narmak. Mobile branches circulate in neighborhoods like Farmanieh, Qeytarieh, and Shariati Street, but no one visits to vote. The regime sends Basij mercenaries and plainclothes personnel to certain polling stations highlighted by foreign reporters.
Since early today, suppressive forces have been stationed across most of Tehran, actively conducting motor patrols. Around Azadi Street, near the Tohid Station, nine regime suppression vehicles are stationed, all armed with pistols, rifles, batons, and sprays.
In Isfahan, only the Sepahan Shahreza Mosque branch has personnel from the Sepah and Basij present. Mahmoudiyeh Mosque branch in Isfahan is also empty. Families of Basijis and Guards in Isfahan transport them in private vehicles to various branches to vote. In Kerman, most branches were empty, and until 10 AM, only a few Basijis were present outside each polling station.
In Shahr-e Kord, regime mobile television units have been stationed in Imamzadeh Masoum since the previous night to show a queue of people who come for pilgrimage on Fridays as voters.
In Evin Prison, prisoners accused of financial crimes have been informed that failure to vote will result in deprivation of furlough and other benefits. In Qezelhessar Prison, ballot boxes have been taken to all units and prisoners have been threatened that if they do not vote, they will be sent to crowded halls with lower hygiene standards and insufficient food to sleep on the floor. Nevertheless, only a very small percentage of prisoners have voted.
