Iran: Mahabad Uprising in Farewell to Martyrs

Night demonstrations in Baneh, Saqqez, Divandarreh, and Kermanshah

On Friday, October 28, on the 43^rd day of the uprising, thousands of Mahabad residents staged a protest after the burial of the martyrs of the previous day, chanting “Death to Khamenei”. The suppressive forces opened fire on the protesters, and the youths blocked the road by setting fire to trash containers. They clashed with suppressive forces and burned the regime’s symbols in the city squares. Yesterday, the defiant youths of Mahabad severely beat the Commander of the State Security Force (SSF) in the city.

The state-run Jamaran website, October 28, quoted Jalal Mahmoudzadeh, a member of the regime’s parliament from Mahabad, as saying: “On Wednesday night, a young man named Moloudi was shot dead in one of the squares of Mahabad, and on Thursday morning, people attended the young man’s funeral. On the way back from the ceremony, the number of people grew, and there was a large crowd. People marched towards the Municipality and the Governorate’s office, and the city turned somewhat tense. In the meantime, unfortunately, four other people were killed; one of those young people was 15.”

On Friday, people took to the streets of Baneh and confronted the suppressive forces. In Kermanshah, in “Barimeh Van” cemetery, people protested in a ceremony on the 40th day of Reza Shahparnia’s murder by the security forces, chanting” “This year is a year of sacrifice, Seyyed Ali (Khamenei) will be overthrown” and “Death to the Supreme Leader after many long years of crimes.” While paying homage to Reza Shahparnia, the youth sang a poem, “I came here empty-handed, but said farewell, with a fistful of honor.” In Saqqez, the ceremony in honor of Martyr Fereydoun Mahmoudi was held with anti-regime slogans. In a similar ceremony in honor of another martyr, Fuad Qadimi, in Divandareh, people staged demonstrations and chanted anti-regime slogans.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), saluted the people of Mahabad, Sanandaj, Saqqez, Baneh, Marivan, and all Kurdish compatriots who have bravely cornered the regime in the past three days. She saluted the young martyrs of Mahabad who sacrificed their lives for freedom and people’s sovereignty. She reiterated that these brutal killings only add to the Iranian people’s determination to topple the regime.
