Strikes, demonstrations on the 40th day of the Zahedan massacre
On Wednesday, November 9, the 55th day of the nationwide uprising and the 40th day of the massacre of worshipers in Zahedan, Baluchistan Province, merchants of the city’s bazaar went on strike. Also, merchants in Kermanshah, Sanandaj, Baneh, Bukan, Saqqez, Tabriz, and Furniture Bazaar in Vali-e Asr Township of Tehran went on strike in solidarity with their Baluchi compatriots. The youths of Sanandaj staged protests by lighting fire on streets in support of Zahedan.

University students in Tehran University, Pars Tehran Faculty of Art and Architecture, Kharazmi in Karaj, Science and Culture in Tehran, Textile Engineering Faculty of Amir Kabir, Chamran University in Shiraz, West Tehran Azad University, Tabriz University of Arts, Medical Sciences of Bojnoord, Isfahan University of Arts, School of Architecture and Urban planning of Isfahan University, Faculty of Fine Arts in the University of Tehran, and Faculty of Chemistry in National University staged demonstrations and sit-ins on the 40th day of Zahedan massacre.
Students of Science and Culture University in Tehran chanted, “Khodanur was killed by some criminal agents” and “(Our main issue is that) we have no bread, no home, but hijab has become the issue.” Khodanur Laja’i is one of the martyrs of Zahedan, who was shot and wounded and subsequently died in the hospital.
On Tuesday night, November 8, the 54th night of the nationwide uprising, people staged nightly demonstrations in Tehran, Karaj, Mashhad, Yazd, Kermanshah, Chalich of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, and Sanandaj. In some cities, people blocked the highways by lighting fires. In Tehran, in the Payambar neighborhood, youths staged a nightly demonstration and sang the anthem “O Iran” and in Jordan Street chanted, “Death to the dictator” and “We don’t want a child-killer rule.” In Karaj, people chanted “Death to the dictator,” “We don’t want mullahs, we don’t want deceitful leader, we don’t want criminal Basijis,” “Shame on Khamenei, let go of the country,” and “Shame on you, let go of the country.”
In Yazd, youths set fire to a large banner of Khamenei, and in Mashhad, they stained a large poster of Qassem Soleimani in red, and schoolgirls threw down the framed pictures of Khomeini and Khamenei from the top of the pedestrian bridge while chanting, “Death to the dictator.”
On Tuesday, November 8, the state-run Mehr news agency reporting the death of a paramilitary Basij member who was also engaged in the killings of Syrian people, wrote: “Majid Yousefi, a Basij force member from Astaneh Ashrafieh, was killed on Tuesday evening while engaged in arresting rioters.”
