Iran Protest-No. 30
On Saturday, October 1, 2022, on the 16th day of the Iranian people’s nationwide uprising, in addition to the students’ protests in universities across the country and protests in dozens of districts in Tehran, many cities in Iran were the scene of a hit and run conflict with the regime’s suppressive forces.
In Birjand, despite the successive onslaught of the suppressive forces throughout the day, a large crowd continued their protests. In Tabriz, the suppressive forces planned to arrest the students by surrounding the university and closing its gate. But young people and students’ families gathered around the university. By breaking the university gate and joining the crowd outside, the students broke the siege of the State Security Forces (SSF) and drew the protest into the city.
In Zahedan, the hit and run of youths with the suppressive forces continued. In Khorramabad, the people confronted paramilitary Basij agents who were shooting at the protesters. The rebellious youth encountered the Basiji agents and forced them to flee.
Gohardasht, Karaj was the scene of conflict, hit and run, and anti-government demonstrations throughout the day, and for many hours, the youth were chanting,” “Beware of the day we take up arms.”
In Qazvin, the protestors chanted, “Death to Khamenei” and set fire to CCTV cameras used to identify demonstrators. In Rasht, people’s demonstrations and hit and run with suppressive forces continued throughout the day.
In Arak, Jahanpanah street was the scene of people’s demonstration chanting, “Death to the dictator.” In Mahabad, the people’s hit and run with the suppressive forces with chants of, “Death to the dictator,” continued until late at night.
In Isfahan, rebellious youths punished a Basij agent who had attacked the demonstrators. In Tabriz, people freed a young man who the suppressive forces had arrested.
