NCRI logoToday, Monday, January 20, 2025, retired educators from various cities and provinces across Iran, despite threats and pressure from the Ministry of Intelligence, gathered in Tehran to protest in front of the Ministry of Education. This demonstration was held in objection to the government’s failure to fulfill their demands after 17 months of retirement. They were joined by retired educators from Tehran. The protesters jeered the regime’s Minister of Education and called for his resignation. With loudspeakers, they chanted slogans such as:

“Our cries are loud, cries from the heart, where are you, captain? The ship is stranded!”; “Oh God, Oh God, strike down injustice!”; “If there were justice, teachers wouldn’t be here!”; “Iran is rich, see what has happened to you?”

State Security Force (SSF) agents attacked the demonstrators using pepper spray, but the protesters confronted them by chanting, “Shameless, shameless!”

Simultaneously, retired telecommunications workers held protests in Tehran and at least 14 other cities, including Isfahan, Tabriz, Sari, Kermanshah, Sanandaj, Ahvaz, Rasht, Urmia, Shahr-e Kord, Ilam, Bijar, Zanjan, Khorramabad, and Hamadan. These gatherings were in response to the government’s failure to pay their salaries. In Tehran, protesters chanted, “Only in the streets can we claim our rights.”

In Kermanshah, demonstrators directed their slogans against the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order (EIKO) headquarters, chanting:”The EIKO has taken over telecommunications and stolen our rights!”; “Retirees, rise up to eliminate discrimination!”; In Ahvaz, protesters chanted: “Enough oppression and tyranny; we don’t have the lifespan of Noah!”; “We’ll come every Monday until we reclaim our rights!”
