On the anniversary of the execution of the founders and central members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) on May 25, 1972, by order of the treacherous Shah, the Resistance Units honored their memory by carrying out 100 acts of defiance in 30 cities across the country, reaffirming their commitment to continuing their path.

These acts included posting and distributing slogans and images of the PMOI founders, along with excerpts from speeches by the leaders of the Resistance, Massoud and Maryam Rajavi. These actions took place in the cities of Tehran, Karaj, Tabriz, Mashhad, Isfahan, Shiraz, Kermanshah, Zanjan, Rasht, Qazvin, Kerman, Ahvaz, Gorgan, Kashan, Borujerd, Shushtar, Zahedan, Bandar Abbas, Hamedan, Bandar Anzali, Gohardasht, Masjed Soleyman, Yasuj, Nikshahr, Yazd, Neyshabur, Qom, Shahr-e Kord, and Sari.

Additionally, on this occasion, images and quotes from the founders were projected onto the walls of high-traffic areas in the cities of Tehran, Tabriz, Zanjan, Qazvin, Rasht, and Yazd.

These acts sent a clear message from the younger generation: the struggle for freedom, which began during the Shah’s era, would continue to the end.

In a bold move under heavy security surveillance and numerous security cameras, the Resistance Units in some cities—including Tehran, Kermanshah, and Masjed Soleyman—hung images of Mohammad Hanifnejad, the founder of the PMOI, from overpasses in busy streets. Despite intense security control, flowers were also placed on the founders’ graves in Tehran’s Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery.

Quotes from the Resistance leadership featured in these acts included:

  • “Three great men of modern Iranian history—Mohammad Hanifnejad, Saeed Mohsen, and Ali-Asghar Badizadegan—founded the PMOI to create a new world.”
  • “Mohammad Hanifnejad lit the flames of resistance at any cost in the cells of Evin and in Chitgar Square.”
  • “Mohammad Hanifnejad was the enduring sun of his homeland, sowing the seeds of truth and sacrifice.”
  • “May 25 is a day of renewed pledge by the PMOI and Resistance Units to continue the fight to overthrow the corrupt clerical regime.”
