Mrs. Maryam Rajavi: Today’s Uprising Showed That the Youth Are Not Intimidated by IRGC Atrocities and Will Pay the Price of Freedom as Much as Necessary
Despite brutal repression by the IRGC forces in the past days, students of dozens of universities across the country staged sit-ins and protests on Monday, October 31, the 46th day of the nationwide uprising.
In Tehran, students of Al-Zahra University, Amir Kabir University, Tehran Technical University South and West Branch, Sharif University of Technology, Melli University, Khajeh Nasir University, Allameh University, Tehran University Sohank Branch, etc. chanted in their protests: “We swear to the blood of our comrades that we shall continue to the end,” “Neither barracks, nor prison; hail to universities,” “Sharif University has become a detention center, and Evin prison turned into university,” “We will fight, we will die, but we will take back Iran.”
Students of different faculties at Melli University joined to stage their sit-in, and some professors joined them. Students of Al-Zahra University staged a sit-in to protest the arrest of one of the students. In response to the regime’s repressive threats of suspending protesting students, they chanted: “If you suspend the students, we will close the university.” Authorities of Allameh University have banned a number of students from entering the campus.
Students of the Shahrood University of Technology, Mashhad Azad University, Sanandaj, Rasht, Babol, Tabriz, Shiraz Technical College, Sirjan, Urmia, Qazvin, etc., started a sit-in and protest. The students were chanting, “Death to (paramilitary) Basiji,” “Tank cannons, machine guns are no longer effective,” “Tell my mother that she no longer has a daughter,” and “Our comrades were not killed so that we compromise and praise the murderous leader (Khamenei),” “The one who is crippled (i.e., Khamenei) is the murderer of Shah Cheragh,” “We are all Mahsa. Fight and we fight back”. Tabriz Madani University students protested the arrest of one of their fellow students and demanded his release. The Barajin Azad University of Qazvin students were chanting, “Basiji and IRGC, you are our ISIS.” Students of Urmia University clashed with the regime’s agents at the university (called Harasat) while chanting “Freedom, Freedom, Freedom.”
Some of the students of Soureh University stated in a statement against the widespread crackdown on students, “Today, braver than ever, with knowledge and truth, we have come to fight your ignorance and lies, to say that we will not sell the blood of our brothers and sisters to your constant threats and coercion… and we condemn any repression and violence against students, and we make our cry for freedom louder than ever.”
A number of students at Shiraz University of Science and Culture issued a statement and boycotted classes.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said that the uprising of brave students in universities all over Iran showed that the children of Iran are not intimidated by the IRGC atrocities and will pay the price of freedom as much as necessary. She added that unity and stability guarantee progress toward freedom.
On Sunday night, October 30, on the 45th night of the uprising, rebellious youths in Sanandaj set fire to an IRGC observation center in Asuleh town and a Basij base in Baw Hariz. They closed the road in Saadi town and chanted, “Death to the dictator,” and clashed with the regime’s agents in Baharan Villashahr, Sanandaj.
In Varamin, a regime’s seminary was set on fire by youths. In Mashhad, the youths attacked the seminary- number 15 in Hamza district by throwing incendiary materials. In Qahdarijan, Isfahan, people protested the arrest of girls and held a protest rally at night carrying a big placard that warned repressive forces that the people would not be silent in the face of the imprisonment of girls and women. Bukan youth gathered in the street by lighting fire and chanting “death to the dictator.” In Torbat Heydarieh, youths attacked police station 11 with Molotov cocktails. In Bandar Abbas, rebellious youths blocked the road by lighting a fire.
Intelligence forces in Sanandaj planned to arrest female students in the Fereshtagan dormitory on Sunday evening, but professors came to the dormitory in support of the students and prevented their arrest.
The lives of those who were wounded during the attack on worshipers in Zahedan on Friday, October 29, are in danger. Doctors are not allowed to treat them, and many injured people in their homes, due to the risk of being arrested, have no means to treat their wounds.
State-run Jahan News agency reported on October 30 that police officer Mohsen Rezaei was killed, and three others were wounded in a clash with people in Iranshahr. According to government news agencies, Hamzeh Alinejad from the Gilan province Basij force was also killed in a clash with youths.
