Hanging the wrestler Navid Afkari, this morning reflects the regime’s desperate need for stepping up repression. Despite these murderous acts, the regime cannot stem the growing tide of popular unrest and people’s uprising.
Impunity at the global level has allowed Iran’s regime to continue its brutal crimes against the Iranian people.
The international community must hold the mullahs to account for their human rights abuses.

Concerning this criminal act Mrs. Maryam Rajavi the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) said:
The mullahs’ criminal regime hanged Navid Afkari this morning. The people of Iran and its brave youth will not remain silent against the cowardly execution of this courageous son of Shiraz. They will rise in solidarity with the heroic people of Fars.
The UNSC, its member states, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the EU, and all international human rights authorities must take practical, effective measures against the regime in Iran for the execution of Navid Afkari and 120,000 political prisoners.
Silence and inaction give a green light to and are considered as complicity in these crimes.
