Inflation Surge in Iran

By Staff Writer

On Monday June 23, 2018, Iran’s Bureau of statistics published a report on the country’s Consumer Price Index for the month of June.

Compared to the previous month, the total index has gone up by 4.4%; and compared to June 2017, by 13.8%.

Which basically means that on average, Iranian families have been spending 13.8% more money on the purchase of goods and services, in comparison with last year; not to mention that in 2017 itself, inflation was still an issue and had sparked the complaints of many too.

On June 23, 2018, a parliamentarian named Naghavi Hoseini, addressed this issue in his statement: “The unbelievable price increases that we’re seeing, are putting huge pressures on our people; who are living in very difficult circumstances now and facing countless crises such as unemployment, currency devaluation and inflation, and insufficient housing. Our currency value is continuing to decrease which has left our economy in a very unstable situation”.

Another parliamentarian named Mohammad-Ali Vakili, added: “In today’s society of Iran, almost everyone can agree with one thing, and that’s the fact that our country is in a very deep crisis now”.

According to the reports of Iran’s bureau of statistics, the price index of some products, such as red meat, vegetables, milk, cheese, egg, tea, coffee, ad tobacco, has gone over 12%. The unemployment rate of youths aged 15 to 29 years has also gone up to 25.5%; all whilst the Central Bank makes a ridiculous announcement that whoever’s worked for even an hour during the Voting Week for this organisation, is considered as employed.

These amounts, even those from the distorted reports of the regime, are much like a ticking bomb for the regime and clearly indicative of its great failure.

Given the astronomical corruptions and thefts of the regime and it being confronted on a global scale, the out of control social crisis and economic bankruptcy that we see happening, are sure to soon turn into an irreversible nightmare for the regime.
