Hanging of a man in northern Iran

Hanging of a man in northern IranNCRI – A man accused of stabbing a member of suppressive police force was hanged in northern city of Tonekabon according to Mazandaran province justice department.

Kayhan state-run daily, January 10, reported that Mehdi Sousan-Bahari had stabbed to death Alireza Mehdi Fahimi in a clash which took place last year. Fahimi was a member of the “Police Special Force 110” which was formed a few years ago as a force to crackdown any move against the regime.

The report did not mention when the execution took place and whether it was in public.

The UN General Assembly condemned deteriorating human rights situation in Iran in a strongly worded resolution adopted in December. The world body expressed special concern over high number of executions in Iran.
