Iran: No written report of inquiry into 2009 Tehran student deaths

NCRI – An inquiry into the 2009 Tehran University uprising in which seven students were killed by security forces has been closed without the publication of a written report.

The announcement that the attack on demonstrating students was no longer being investigated was made Kazem Jalali, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy commission of the regime’s parliament in an interview with state-run news agency ISNA on March 17.

Police and plain clothes agents were caught on video storming a dormitory at the university in June 2009, injured several students.

Security forces also transferred around 50 students to the basement of the Iranian regime’s Interior Ministry where they continued to beat and abuse them.

One student said: “The attackers did not need to hide their faces and identities. It seemed that they were well supported. They attacked the university in cooperation with the anti-riot police and did whatever they wanted.”

Later reports named the seven students killed in the university attack as: Mostafa Ghanian, Mobina Ehterami, Iman Namazi, Fatemeh Barati, Mohsen Imani, Kambiz Shoaii and Kasra Sharafi.
