Iran: Pressure on Political Prisoner in Solitary Confinement in Karaj Prison

 

NCRI – Political prisoner Mehdi Farahi Shandiz is being held in solitary confinement in Karaj Prison (west of Tehran) since June 8, 2017. According to reports, this political prisoner is deprived of making phone calls or having visits by his family. The family of this political prisoner have been told that it is unclear how long Mr. Farahi Shandiz will be remaining in solitary confinement.

After his family investigated his case, it was revealed that Mr. Farahi Shandiz had several cases against him at court. He is currently serving a three-and-a-half year sentence, which was issued by Judge Abolqasem Salavati. According to existing information, this political prisoner has two other cases in the second and fourth branches of the regime’s court in Karaj. In both cases he has been charged with insulting Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of the mullahs’ regime.
