NCRI – A group of people in Herat in Western Afghanistan gathered in front of Iranian regime’s consulate to condemn the offensive behavior of Iranian police with Afghan refugees.
An Iranian state media “Aftab News” reported on Sunday September 11 that following the publication of the photos showing a number of Afghan migrants in an exhibition dedicated to unauthorized items discovered by Shiraz police, a number of Afghan citizens protested in front of Iranian consulate in Herat.
According to reports, Afghan demonstrators protested against displaying Afghan refugees inside cages. The protesters were chanting “We don’t want such a neighbor”, “Enough with Iranian police insults against Afghan refugees” and “Where humanity is?”
Four days ago, Shiraz police put on display what they had discovered during their operations in the past 48 hours. The discoveries were displayed in an outdoor exhibition and included items such as stolen property, drugs, and alcoholic drinks as well as “arrested foreign nationals”.
Images published by a state news agency “ISNA” and circulated in social networks, show people who appear to be Afghan migrants being gathered inside cage-like, open-roof iron fences while some of them are wearing blindfolds. Release of these photos has sparked a wave of outrage among the social network users.
Khalil Parsa, coordinator of civil organizations in Herat says: “This act by the Iranian law enforcement forces is offensive and against human values.”
The protesters stressed that the Afghan government should condemn this misconduct with Afghan migrants and complain about it to international human rights bodies.
Afghanistan Ministry of Refugees called on Monday for putting an end to the abusive conduct with Afghan refugees in Iran and described Shiraz police’s conduct with Afghan refugees as an offensive and inhumane act which violates human dignity.
Also Herat representative “Mohammad Reza Khoshak” described this act by Iranian regime’s law enforcement forces as one which conforms to ISIL’s code of conduct.
