Iran: Pilots killed in fighter jet crash near Shiraz – report

Two Iranian airmen were killed when their F-4 Phantom fighter jet crashed Tuesday in the southern province of Fars, the official IRNA news agency reported.

A senior military official of the Iranian regime was quoted as saying: “The pilot and the co-pilot were killed.”

Hossein Mohammmadi claimed the crash took place on July 15, at 11:15 local time (GMT +4:30 hours) near Lake Bakhtegan in Fars Province without elaborating on the cause of crash.

The Iranian regime’s Air Force has about 300 combat aircraft, including Russian Mig-29s and Su-25s, Chinese F-7s and American F-4, F-5 and F-14 and French Mirage F-1s, but many of the planes are not operational, according to experts.
