MI6 Chief Says Iranian Regime Faces Major Setbacks Amid Regional Unrest

The Iranian regime’s militias across the Middle East have suffered significant blows, according to Sir Richard Moore, Chief of the UK’s Secret Intelligence Service (MI6). Speaking at an event marking the 120th anniversary of the Entente Cordiale, Moore highlighted these setbacks while warning of the regime’s continued nuclear ambitions and efforts to suppress dissent both domestically and abroad. “Iran’s allied militias across the Middle East have suffered serious blows, but the regime’s nuclear ambitions continue to threaten all of us, especially friends of France and the UK in the Gulf region,” Moore stated. He also emphasized Tehran’s ongoing efforts to silence dissidents both domestically and abroad, which he described as part of a broader strategy to maintain power amid growing internal and external pressures.

The MI6 chief highlighted the importance of intelligence-sharing between the UK and France to address such challenges. He noted, “DGSE and SIS share reporting insights so that discussions about peace can benefit from a common intelligence picture.”

Moore linked the Iranian regime’s destabilizing actions to broader global concerns, warning that a failure to counter the regime’s threats could exacerbate regional instability and embolden other authoritarian states. “If Putin succeeds [in Ukraine], Iran would become yet more dangerous,” he cautioned, emphasizing the interconnectedness of global security challenges.

Moore concluded by reaffirming the UK’s commitment to working with international partners to mitigate the risks posed by Iran’s activities and to uphold the rule of law.

This speech comes amidst intensified diplomatic efforts to address Tehran’s nuclear ambitions and growing repression, underscoring the regime’s central role in regional tensions.

Why A Viable Alternative Matters to Iran Now More Than Ever

These days, all domestic, regional, and international conditions have combined to shift the balance of power between the Iranian people and the clerical regime in favor of the people.

On the domestic front, just over 100 days after the inauguration of Masoud Pezeshkian as the regime’s president, his failures have become apparent to everyone. After increasing the prices of bread, eggs, dairy, housing, cement, cars, road tolls, plane and train tickets, and cutting off the electricity supply, he is now working around the clock to raise fuel prices.

Of all his false promises, the only one he has truly delivered on is his commitment to continue the path of former president Ebrahim Raisi in fulfilling the directives of regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, intensifying executions, amputations, and other brutal acts.
