In Zahedan, PMOI Resistance Units Champion a Democratic Future, Rejecting All Dictatorships
On October 3, 2025, PMOI Resistance Units in the southeastern city of Zahedan resumed their weekly activities with a powerful and defiant message for Iran and the world. Amidst the regime’s ongoing repression, these activists took to the streets to reaffirm their unwavering commitment to the struggle against the ruling mullahs and their vision for a democratic republic that categorically rejects all forms of tyranny, past and present. Their placards and slogans sent a clear signal: the Iranian people’s quest for freedom will not be satisfied by replacing one dictator with another.
A central theme of the Resistance Units’ demonstration was the emphatic rejection of both the current theocracy and the former monarchical dictatorship. In a direct rebuke to those who suggest the Iranian people desire a return to the shah’s rule, their placards carried slogans such as, “Death to the oppressor, be it the shah or the supreme leader,” and “A dictator is a dictator, whether with a turban or a crown.” This message underscores a core principle of the Iranian resistance: true freedom cannot be achieved by turning back the clock.
Shahrbanoo Asadi, Highschool Teacher, Dismissed from Education Ministry
In a controversial ruling, the Administrative Court of Justice upheld the dismissal of Shahrbanoo Asadi, a Persian language and literature teacher in high schools of District 2 of the Department of Education in Rasht. Shahrbanoo Asadi, a well-known teachers’ union activist, has been formally barred from continuing her service in the Department of Education following the court’s approval of the Education Ministry’s Selection Board decision in Branch 28 of the appeals court. The ruling comes despite a previous decision by the same court in favor of Asadi, when it had overturned the Selection Board’s initial rejection of her employment due to “lack of legal justification and insufficient evidence.” Nevertheless, the Selection Board once again disqualified her on professional grounds and insisted on enforcing her expulsion.
Sentencing of Shahin Zoghi-Tabar, Former Political Prisoner
Shahin Zoghi-Tabar, a 38-year-old political prisoner, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison by Tehran’s Revolutionary Court following his arrest in August 2025. His politically motivated charges and the inhumane conditions of detention once again highlight systematic human rights violations against political prisoners in Iran. At dawn on August 2, 2025, security forces affiliated with the IRGC stormed the home of Shahin Zoghi-Tabar in Tehran’s Briank district. He was violently detained in front of his family, while his mobile phone, laptop, and personal documents were confiscated. The arrest was carried out without a judicial warrant and was accompanied by threats and verbal abuse, underscoring the extrajudicial nature of the case from the outset.
Iran: Khamenei’s Position After Hamas Accepts Trump’s Plan
With the acceptance of former U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan by Hamas, the regional position of the Islamic Republic of Iran has entered a new phase. According to local experts in Iran’s state media This development has placed Tehran under increased limitations in its regional and international relations. Following the activation of the “snapback mechanism” and the return of international pressure, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has entered what some media outlets describe as the “post-snapback era.” This period is characterized by economic challenges, rising social discontent, and internal divisions within the ruling establishment. Reports indicate that two main paths are now before Khamenei: first, retreat and negotiations to reduce pressure; second, continuation of a security-military approach with higher domestic costs.
Iran’s Regime Increases Activity Near Natanz Enrichment Site
The Institute for Science and International Security reported that new satellite images show the Iranian regime continues construction work at facilities located south of the Natanz uranium enrichment site, in a mountain known as Kolang. However, the precise nature of the nuclear-related activities at this facility remains unclear and is the subject of serious concern. In its report published on Friday, October 3, the Institute added that these activities, observed since September 2025, appear to be in the final stages of construction and security reinforcement, and do not necessarily indicate an expansion or acceleration of nuclear activity. The report emphasized that the analysis suggests these developments do not demonstrate a capability for the rapid reconstruction of damaged parts of the nuclear program.
September 2025: A Month of Nationwide Protests in Iran
Widespread strikes and demonstrations expose the regime’s deepening crisis and growing public anger. September 2025 was marked by an unprecedented wave of protests across Iran, as the regime’s deepening crisis and lack of solutions drove citizens from all walks of life into the streets. More than a year after Masoud Pezeshkian’s presidency began, it has become evident that his government, operating under Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, cannot offer answers to the structural deadlock gripping the regime. The 12-day war earlier in the month dealt a severe blow to Iran’s fragile economy, pushing the country deeper into recession. The reactivation of the United Nations snapback sanctions added further pressure, aggravating inflation, unemployment, and shortages. In this volatile environment, nationwide demonstrations grew in both scale and diversity.
