Iran Protests: Demonstrations and Outages Spark Unrest Across the Country

Lavan and Bahregan, Southern Iran: Today, August 30, workers at the Lavan Offshore Oil Company and the Bahregan Offshore Oil Company held protests against systemic corruption within the regime. They called out the government’s failure to address their grievances regarding unpaid wages and poor working conditions.

Shahrekord, Western Iran: On August 29, creditors of the state-run Maskan Melli housing company held a protest rally in Shahrekord. The protesters demanded the delivery of homes promised over five years ago after making down payments. The company has yet to fulfill its obligations, leaving many without the homes they paid for.

Aran and Bidgol, Central Iran: Farmers from the Feyzabad Noushabad area staged protests against the poor condition of local roads, which they say pose significant risks to their lives and finances. The demonstrators highlighted the government’s negligence in maintaining essential infrastructure, severely impacting agricultural productivity and safety.

Zabol, Southeast Iran: Residents gathered in front of the local electricity company to protest against ongoing power outages. These frequent blackouts have caused significant disruptions to daily life, exacerbating public frustration and sparking calls for government accountability.

Nationwide Electricity Outages: In the last few days, power outages have spread across several cities, including Kermanshah, Ardabil, Tabriz, Zanjan, and Kashan. In Kermanshah, significant areas have been without electricity for hours, affecting traffic lights and causing chaos. In Ardabil, power cuts at 8 p.m. led to outages at major intersections, creating dangerous driving conditions. Tabriz witnessed shop owners in the pedestrian street of Tabriz struggling with lost business due to the blackouts. Industrial workers in Zanjan protested at the office of the provincial “Industry, Mining, and Trade Organization” over the lack of electricity, disrupting operations. In Kashan, widespread outages have continued, exacerbating the public’s frustration.

Esfahan, Central Iran: Reports emerged of the nighttime demolition of homes belonging to impoverished residents by security forces in the Bethat Street area. Eyewitnesses recounted the destruction, stating, “All the houses of the people were demolished overnight,” illustrating the regime’s harsh measures against vulnerable communities.

Torture and Death in Custody: The regime’s security forces admitted to the death of Mohammad Mir Mousavi under torture. In an official statement, they claimed the death was due to the “excitement” and “lack of control” by officers during an encounter.

These developments across Iran reveal a nation in turmoil, with widespread protests against economic mismanagement, corruption, inadequate infrastructure, and human rights abuses. The public’s growing dissatisfaction with the regime’s policies and actions is increasingly visible as citizens demand accountability and groundbreaking change.
